Inspired by the flora and fauna around Maryland, I make clay works of art that are occassionally functional. I enjoy the connection with the earth that the medium presents. I fire my pieces in wood and soda ash kilns. This presents challenges and wonderful results. The memory of the clay to return to its resting state, even if I try to manipulate it, strengthens my resolve to be true to my message from the inception of the design idea.

Inspiration
Inspired by the flora and fauna around Maryland, I work with clay to express the passion I have for life. I enjoy the connection with the earth that the medium presents. I am usually surprised by the power of the elements to control the work. I fire my pieces in wood kilns. This presents challenges and wonderful results. The memory of the clay to return to its resting state, even if I try to manipulate it, strengthens my resolve to be true to my message from the inception of the design idea.
